Q. I have fitted a different engine to my car but the body shell is the same. Will the exhaust still fit?
A . It is unlikely a full system will fit the car. Magnex only guarantee the products for standard vehicles. The fit, sound and performance have only been tested on standard vehicles, and Magnex cannot guarantee a system which is fitted to a non standard car.
Q. Can I purchase the Rear Silencer first and then if I like it, or when I can afford it purchase the rest of the system?
A. Not normally, the pipe work on a rear silencer is the correct diameter to fit directly on to an original system. The diameter of the pipe work on a Magnex system is usually larger therefore is not compatible with the diameter of pipe work on a rear silencer.
Q. Will my car pass its MOT without the catalytic converter?
A. If the vehicle was registered after August 1992 and had a catalytic converter fitted as a standard then it will require a catalytic converter to be in place in order for it to legally pass the M.O.T. For vehicles which fall in to this category, Magnex produce a full system to fit directly on to the original CAT, and an optional CAT BYPASS KIT. This kit sometimes includes a straight through silencer box if necessary to maintain sound quality. It is fully interchangeable with both the original system and the Magnex system. You can then choose whether to retain the CAT or not.
Q. I have fitted a Magnex exhaust and the tail pipe is protruding out too far, or is it at the wrong angle. What shall I do?
A. When fitting the exhaust system the slip joints should be carefully pushed all the way home to ensure a good fit. Each part of the system should be fitted loosely whilst aligning apertures and mounting points. Once all are to a satisfactory alignment with the recommended clearances then all clamps and fittings should be tightened.
Q. What guarantee do I get with a Magnex exhaust system?
A. Magnex Exhausts comes with a lifetime guarantee to the original purchaser of the product and purchased in the UK. You should register your guarantee card within 21 days of purchase of the product.If the guarantee card is not registered within 21 days then the product will have a 12 month manufacturers guarantee. If you are the original purchaser of the product and have purchased outside the UK then the product will have a 12 month manufacturers guarantee. Magnex Universal Silencers come with a 12 month guarantee.
Q. What material are Magnex exhaust systems made of?
A. All Magnex exhaust systems are manufactured from high quality grade 304 stainless steel.
Q. How much performance increase will I get from a Magnex Exhaust System?
A. This varies from car to car depending on how restricted the original exhaust system was. At Magnex we develop all our products on the vehicle to ensure we offer a perfect fit and the optimum power output, while paying attention to making sure we offer a pleasing sound too. We balance the power output with the noise output so we get I just right. In some instances on vehicles with sophisticated engine management systems, it may be advantageous to carry out additional performance enhancements to optimise the power output of a Magnex exhaust.
Q. Magnex doesn’t list a system for my car - can you make me one?
A. Magnex doesn’t offer “one off” systems. At Magnex we put a lot of time and effort in to developing exhausts, to ensure they fit perfectly EVERY TIME, and gain the maximum power, whilst sounding good. Once developed we make jigs and fixtures to ensure consistency of production of the exhausts. It is therefore not cost effective for us to offer to make one off products. However, if you car is not on our list please contact us, because we may want to add it to the fast growing range. If we use you car as a “pattern” - you may even get a free exhaust too! Q. Will a Magnex Universal silencer fit my car?
A. You will find all the dimensions of the range of Universal silencers in the section on the web site, including tail pipe, silencer, and inlet pipe diameters and lengths. It will require your input to measure the space available under your car where your existing original rear silencer fits. You should be sure to allow adequate clearances of at least 10mm - especially by your rear valance to avoid any damage.
Q. My car is not listed on your product range, does this mean you don't make one for it?
A. This means we don't currently make a Magnex exhaust for your car. You may want to look at our range of Universal Silencers as there may be one suitable for you. Otherwise please fill out the form shown in the product search section and submit your details to us. We will add it to our list of requested vehicles, and if the demand is high enough it may be developed in the future.
