Back in the 1960’s, a man named Giampiero Moretti decided that the design on his steering wheel was not good enough. He thought the wheel was too big and the handgrip too small. Moretti designed and built his own smaller, better steering wheel and was soon delighted with the results.
His new design was so revolutionary that, soon, the Ferrari F1 team became interested in trying them out. By the time 1964 came around, Ferrari was world champion and every racing team worth their salt were clamouring for a Moretti steering wheel. This was the beginning of Momo’s journey to the forefront of the international market.
Over the years, Momo grew in size and stature and, by 1983, Momo had opened their ‘Momo Design’ and ‘Momo Corse’ divisions, which specialised in producing high technology racing equipment.
Taking their years of racing experience, Momo began to build a range of seats for various motoring applications. With their expert insight into racing, they knew just how to deliver flawless safety, great comfort and, in line with their philosophy, eye-catching design. Every Momo seat is fully compliant with the standards of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile – the regulating body that governs F1 racing.
Today, Momo seats see use in a wide range of racing motorsports, all the way from F1 to WRC. Designed for the track or the road, Momo seats offer flawless performance in every area, with Momo’s racing heritage shining through.
Materials and Design
The Momo range of seats, whilst great for the track or the road, use racing-standard materials and construction to ensure the highest standards of safety and design.
Each Momo seat has a fibreglass shell. Momo uses fibreglass because it is both extremely strong and extremely light, making it perfect for racing applications – the heaviest Momo seat, for example, comes in at under 10KG. Less weight means less fuel consumption and more speed on the road or the track and, at the same time, offers great protection and impact absorption.
To keep you cool, whether buzzing around the track or just driving on the road, Momo seats use Airnet material. Momo understands that driving in certain conditions is often hard and sweaty work. In order to keep you as comfortable as possible, Airnet material breathes and allows for the circulation of air. Momo knows that if you are uncomfortable, your driving will not be all it could be.
Every Momo seat is side-mounted, which abides with racing safety standards and comes with 5 seat belt openings. This makes it a cinch to set up your Momo seat just how you like it, depending on the driving scenario at hand.
